Command line

Control Nanobyte from your terminal

nanobyte is a small free program for developers and IT people. Order, check and control all your services with short typed commands, or use it inside your own scripts.

Is this for me?

If you have never used a terminal (the window where you type commands), you don’t need this. Your client area and AI assistants do the same things with clicks or plain words.

Use an AI assistant instead

Install it

Open a terminal and run the line for your computer. It downloads the program and checks that it is genuine.

Mac and Linux

Open the Terminal app and paste:

curl -fsSL https://nanobyte.host/install.sh | sh

Windows

Press Start, type PowerShell, open it and paste:

irm https://nanobyte.host/install.ps1 | iex

Sign in, without typing a password

  1. 1

    Run nanobyte login

  2. 2

It shows a short code and opens your browser.

  3. 3

Check that the code matches, tick what the tool may do and approve.

  4. 4

Built to be safe
  • Anything that orders, pays, cancels or deletes asks “Are you sure?” first.
  • In scripts, where nobody can answer, it refuses unless you add --yes, so nothing risky happens by accident.
  • It only has the permissions you ticked when you signed in, and spends only within your monthly limit.
  • Updates are verified before they install. Remove its access any time in Account → API keys.

For scripts and automation

Add --json to any command for machine-readable output. The exit code tells your script what happened:

0Done
2Wrong usage, or a risky action without --yes
3Not allowed: a permission is missing
4Not found
5Refused: read the message
6Too many requests: try again later

Use it with an AI app

AI apps that start local programs can use the tool as their Nanobyte connection: sign in with nanobyte login, then add this command in the app.
